Honey Comb

Honey Comb

Honey comb, combining honey and the pollen filling its hives, offers a delightful flavour. At the same time, it enhances nutritionally and therapeutically the human body.
It is a 100% natural beekeeping product. It is an inert material which makes up the wax ”nest“ of the bees. Bees store honey, pollen and their larvae in honey comb. It takes about 8-10 parts of honey to produce 1 kilo of beeswax.
The wax used by bees to cover the mature honey contains antibiotic substances which help preserve the honey. A honey comb filled with honey is rich in proteins, minerals, it contains antibiotic substances and presents a strong immune action. The yellow colour of honey combs is owed to the carotenoids contained in pollen.
It is consumed as such. During mastication of the honey comb, the honey melts in the mouth, and wax together with honey add flavour, aroma and all the therapeutic and nutritional properties, such as antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, emolient and healing ones. Mastication helps in dental and gum health, while the ingredients of the honey comb act beneficially for the stomach.
