Queen bee royal jelly has a whitish to yellowish colour, a wet and slightly creamy texture. It has an intensely tart flavour.
Queen bee royal jelly, one of nature’s miracles, is produced by bees in their hypopharyngeal glands and it is an equivalent of breast milk for mammals, used in the first days of their larvae and for the queen bee of the hive. It is a superfood and iit s produced in infinitesimal quantities. The queen bee will carry on feeding only with royal jelly during her lifetime. It consists of 60-70% water, 12-15% proteins, 10-16% sugar (fructose, glucose, sucrose and more), 2-8 % lipids, minerals, enzymes, hormones, amino acids, antimicrobial substances, vitamins Α, D, E, K and especially vitamins Β and cholesterol. The vitamin Β complex and acetylcholine affect the nervous system in a positive way. It promotes wellness and stimulates the body, while at the same time it strengthens the immune system.
Oak tree honey is a special and priceless mountain honey produced by bees grazing in the largest native oak forest in Europe. The honey mainly comes from oak honeydew, however it also contains flower nectar. It has an intense aroma, a rather dark colour and a rich and robust flavour.
Oak tree honey has a high dietary and nutritional value. It is rich in trace elements and minerals.
In a research carried out by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the antioxidant action of various types of honey was tested and the dark oak tree honey starred for its strong antioxidant action against the free radicals which cause cell degeneration in the human body.
It also shows an antibacterial action due to hydrogen peroxide created after the decomposition of glucose. It is not extremely sweet because of its low sugar content, compared to other types of honey.
